Discover the Extraordinary in the Everyday
Eric Thake—Do You See What I See? celebrates the remarkable creativity of Australian artist Eric Thake (1904–1982), whose playful observations transformed ordinary scenes and objects into captivating works of art.
Featuring more than 100 artworks, including 35 works from Geelong Gallery’s own collection, this comprehensive exhibition explores Thake’s unique approach to printmaking, drawing, photography and painting.
From clever visual humour to unexpected perspectives on familiar surroundings, Thake had a wonderful ability to make people stop, look twice and discover something they’d never noticed before.
The exhibition also celebrates Thake’s special connection to Geelong, where he held his first solo exhibition in 1976 and created some of his most memorable works.
Whether you’re an art enthusiast or simply curious to discover something new, this is an exhibition that’s sure to surprise and delight.
