The go-to guide to filling your belly at Geelong Waterfront
It’s an easy walk from the Geelong Waterfront (where we dock) to some glorious waterfront food options along the waterfront. Whether you’re out for an ice cream or a something finer… you will get five star views from this stunning location!
A wander down to the iconic Cunningham Pier you can treat yourself to a snack or something substantial and also floor to ceiling windows (literally) above the water – at Wah Wah Gee. They celebrate kicking back, turning up the music, and eating with your hands from their Asian infused menu. It’s worth a look.
From there, head up stairs to City Quarter and soak up the sun in their waterfront lounge areas. It’s the supremo spot for relaxing in the afternoon and bird watching, people watching, water watching… whatever you want to watch! Their cocktail menu is to-die-for and it’s the easiest place to eat and sip the afternoon away.
Forget fine dining, fish and chips is where it’s at, when you’re in front of the water – why not? Sometimes it’s the simple things in life like the fare at The Geelong Boat House. A floating eatery built on a 100-year old barge perched over the water. Of course The Edge’s take on fish and chips is slightly more fancy… but goes down just as well.
Now, on a warm afternoon an ice-cream and waterfront wander is a must-do. A little ice-creamery sits, Blis, sits directly across from Steampacket garden (a beautiful lawn overlooking Corio Bay) where you will find bollards, shark fins and the Carousel. Single scoop, double scoop, frozen yoghurts, sundays, milkshakes – they do it all… even donuts! And you don’t want to get us started on the donuts.
For the coffee connoisseurs you’re looked after too! Novotel‘s baristas are second to none… or the gorgeous Panache has quality coffee served in fancy glasses to boot!
Cocktails, fish and chips, it’s all there. So make a plan, save a date and join the Saturday afternoon outing from Portarlington to Geelong.
