Are you ready to be whisked away?

The much-anticipated opening of The Whiskery,  the newest distillery/cellar door offering on the Bellarine is the perfect weekend outing for city dwellers looking to make a day trip to the coast.

Avoid traffic and designated driver negotiations by making the journey aboard Port Phillip Ferries. Travel in comfort and take in sweeping views as you leave the city behind to journey across the picturesque bay. On arrival in Portarlington, catch a taxi, Uber or Bongo (we recommend pre-booking) to The Whiskery, where you will be welcomed by owners Russel and Lorelle, as well as loyal dog Teddy, the namesake behind The Whiskery’s signature gin, Teddy and The Fox.

Previously an old shed, the venue is set to open its doors on Anzac Day, revealing its transformation into a polished tasting room where you can settle in for the day and indulge in the gourmet offerings of the Bellarine. While the single malts are still maturing and should be ready within six to 12 months, you can sample The Whiskery’s gin, produced on site, as well as a range of local beers, wines, and ciders. With grazing plates showcasing local produce and Italian style pizzas to satisfy your hunger, wining and dining by the open fire of The Whiskery is the best spot to be as the cooler Autumn weather sets in.

Before the trip home, make your way back to Portarlington and take a stroll along the historic main street. Make a purchase from one of the local boutiques or enjoy a coffee (and cake if there’s room!) from one of the many cozy cafes.

Back on board, you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer from the newly licensed onboard café as you make the voyage back to the city.

Weekend services depart Docklands at 11:00am (arriving at Portarlington at 12:30pm), returning from Portarlington at 4:15pm (arriving at Docklands at 5:45pm).
