Heading To Port?  Rediscover the Beach This Spring

Walk, ride or skip along the beautiful coastline and township of Portarlington (don’t miss the views across to the You Yangs while you’re wandering) Yep, the coast just got closer. Dip your toes in the water, feel the sand on your feet and take the best value holiday going around.  Take lots of happy snaps to capture the family memories.  Here’s our top 5 must-dos while you’re there!

Fishing Not Catching

It brings back an aire of nostalgia, casting your fishing rod off a pier… waiting… anticipating… the next great big catch!   Give the kids a memorable experience – just like we had – and take them fishing. Cast a simple line off the pier, have a chat, and watch the world slowly pass by. Better than the screens, right?

On Your Bike

Bring your bikes across on the ferry (for free) – and venture off on some soft-adventure around Portarlington and surrounds. The esplanade provides a safe track suitable for all levels of cyclists, with scenic views throughout.Spot Melbourne on the horizon, the You Yangs across the bay – or ride down to the famous Ozone Paddle Steamer in Indented Head! There’s also an exciting new venture in Portarlington where you can hire an E bike. These bikes are so much fun and help you get further and discover more in your day. Find out more here

Fish n Chips & Feasts

Have you ever noticed how fish n chips just taste better in the salty air?  Mmmm… pick from two of our favourite shops who will spoil the family with the most delicious serve of fish n chips – ever!  If you’re there at the right time, you just might be lucky enough to snag a famous Port hot jam donut at the end of the pier!

It’s not all about ferries

Discover Port on the cutest transport you’ll find – the Bongo! This bright red tuk tuk is ridiculously cool transport offering a personalised exploration of the area – or a simple pick-up and drop off service between accommodation, golf club, eateries, caravan parks and more!  Call Leonie on 0419 345 147 to make your plans. 

Take an unforgettable ride on the Portarlington Bayside Miniature Railway. The railway is located on eight hectares of open picturesque native parklands overlooking Port Phillip Bay. The facility offers a vintage Railway Station and Signal Box with an undercover platform. There’s a kiosk plus free undercover barbeques as well as a children’s playground for hours of fun for your family.

Stay The Night

Turn your day trip into an over-nighter because why not make a little sea change? You won’t need to pack too much, but don’t forget the Uno cards.    There’s cabins by the seaside and the Portarlington Beach Motel (they’ll even pick you up in their courtesy bus) If you want the spread out and bring the extended family then try here for all the best holiday houses for rent.

Docklands (and Melbourne CBD) is THE place to be with the kids this Spring.
