Make it a Mother’s Day weekend! May 12 & 13.  It is a time for showing your precious mum how much you appreciate her unconditional love and support.  Deciding on a pressie can be tricky.  You want to give her something that takes into consideration her interests and her one-of-a-kind personality.  So, we’ve come up with a selection of experiences for you to gift to your mum this year.  Simply catch the ferry over to either side of the bay (Portarlington or Docklands) and celebrate Mother’s Day with the best gift ever, quality time.

DOCKLANDS EXPERIENCES

Shop Til You Drop

Shopping is always a good idea, especially on Mother’s Day.  A short 15-minute walk from the Port Phillip Ferries berth, opposite Etihad Stadium, The District has everything you need for the perfect shopping experience with your Mum.  Australian and international retail brands line this colourful and open shopping destination.  H&M, Forever New, Cotton On, Bonds, Moku are all within this convenient location and that is just naming a few.  You can spend the day ogling at, trying on, and of course purchasing the latest styles.  Shop til you drop and then get right back up and keep on shopping!

A La Carte, Bubbles and a View

Bubbles in hand, feasting on delicious food, a breathtaking view and chatting with one of your favourite people in the world, and you have yourself a Mother’s Day at The Woolshed.  This Mother’s Day, our magnificent neighbour, The Woolshed, has extended the invitation for you and your mum to join them in their newly refurbished restaurant.  Book a dining experience on Mother’s Day and receive the scrumptious tastes of their a la carte menu, a glass of bubbles AND a complimentary gift for your Mum.  If this doesn’t impress the socks off your Mum, we don’t know what will!

For the Sports Mad Mums

Your mum, the biggest supporter of all.  Think of all those footy games, netball matches, basketball showdowns.  She ferried you there, cheered from the sidelines and bandaged your wounds.  How about this Mother’s Day you turn the tables and ferry her to the ultimate footy match; Geelong vs. Collingwood at the MCG.  It just so happens that Port Phillip Ferries have you covered this Mother’s Day with corresponding timetables departing from Portarlington and Geelong for this mighty match.  See the greatest team of all with the greatest mum of all!

To Market To Market

You can be guaranteed that The District Makers Market will be on Mother’s Day; rain, hail or shine.  Located in the undercover Art Collection Precinct Section of The District, this is one market that is not subject to the weather elements.  Wander the stalls with your mum and take your time shopping your way through jewellery, homewares and artisanal goods.  The talented stylings of local entertainers create a perfect soundtrack for this Mother’s Day outing.  And if that Melbourne sun is out and shining on Mother’s Day, take a stroll around the vibrant market on New Quay Promenade overlooking the water at The Docklands.  You might even want to think about popping into these markets prior to Mother’s Day so you can pick out a unique pressie for your mum.  So off you go, to market to market to celebrate mum!

PORTARLINGTON EXPERIENCES

Wine Flies When You’re Having Fun

Give the gift of wine and food delights this Mother’s Day.  This is definitely a sure way to Mum’s heart.  A couple of renowned Bellarine wineries have come up with Mother’s Day luncheon packages.  Terindah Estate will be hosting a special luncheon this Mother’s Day.  A three-course lunch will be served at their signature restaurant, The Shed.  And to perfectly accompany the menu, receive a complimentary glass of Terindah Estate Sparkling on arrival.  Over at Basil’s Farm, Mum can be indulged with a banquet style feast of three courses and wooed with a beautiful rose to take home.  Time and wine will fly at these perfectly picturesque Mother’s Day settings.

Make a Weekend of It

Celebrations of mums should last longer than one day so why not make a weekend out of it.  Book yourself in to one of the many impeccable accommodation options on the Bellarine and then set yourself up for a night on board Australia’s premier rail restaurant; The Q-Train.  Take mum on a gastronomical journey where she will travel along the heritage rail line, soaking up the views of Swan Bay and The Bellarine, all they while sampling the delights of local food, wine, beer and cider.  It is a first-class experience for a first-class mum.

The Latest Hotspot on The Bellarine

A trendy mum calls for a trendy experience.  Pull up a stool with your mum and visit the latest hotspot on The Bellarine; The Whiskery.  New to the region, The Whiskery is a cellar door, tasting room and café all rolled into one.  Sample their very own gin, Teddy & The Fox and/or make your way through the range of Australian and international whiskeys and gins, local wines, beers and ciders.  Guided tours and tastings are available along with an array of pizzas and cheese platters. Lucky for you and mum you have a designated ferry driver!

Mum’s Mussels

Is your mum a lover of seafood?  When your town’s most famous export is mussels then you have most certainly found the right place to bring mum for her day of celebration.  The Portarlington mussel boats hit the seas daily to ensure they meet the demands of supply for these world-famous beauties.  Fresh from the seas to your plate, local cafes and restaurants are by no means short on mussel-dining experiences.  The Grand Hotel Portarlington, The Little Mussel Café and Jack Rabbit Vineyard all heavily feature these underwater tasty morsels on their menus so you can mussel up with your mum this Mother’s Day.
