Catch the ferry while the Geelong line is disrupted
There will be major disruptions on the Geelong Line from Tuesday 11 April to Wednesday 3 May, while works continue to remove the dangerous and congested level crossing at Mt Derrimut Road in Deer Park, and V/Line completes critical maintenance. During this time, you can travel between Geelong and Docklands on the ferry with two direct weekday services available, including on Anzac Day.
Pre-bookings are essential, and a valid myki will be required to board the ferry.

Docklands to Geelong – Monday to Friday – Depart 5.30 pm – Arrive 7.05 pm

Booking Process
Passengers will not be charged by PTV for the ferry service but will be required to present a myki card and a valid Port Phillip Ferries ticket when boarding. Passengers can make a booking for the ferry on this page

The free ferry services departing Geelong at 7 am and Docklands at 5.30 pm are offered by the Victorian Government in partnership with Port Phillip Ferries. The services will be available for a limited time while trains are disrupted in April and May, and can only be booked through portphillipferries.com.au/bigbuild.
Other Port Phillip Ferry services schedules will run as usual, and tickets booked for those journeys will be charged at the advertised fee.

The ferry will arrive and depart Geelong at Steampacket Pier. Steampacket Pier/Port Phillip Ferries Geelong Terminal is located at 1 Eastern Beach Road, Geelong (directly adjacent to The Carousel).
Free parking (500 spaces) is available at Geelong Station, approximately 10 minutes walk from the Pier. The customer support staff will be onsite at the Geelong and Docklands terminals to assist passengers as required.

The Port Phillip Ferries Docklands Terminal is located at 131 Harbour Esplanade, Victoria Harbour, Docklands, opposite Marvel Stadium. The terminal is approximately 10 minute walk from Southern Cross Station.
Customers can also access Southern Cross Train Station via the Bourke Street Pedestrian Bridge, which is accessible via stairs or a lift from Harbour Esplanade (next to AFL House / Tram Stop D3).
The ferry terminal is located next to tram stop D3 (Stadium Precinct – Bourke St/Harbour Esp), which services tram routes 35 (City Loop), 70 (Waterfront City to Wattle Park) and 75 (Central Pier Docklands to Vermont South).
The tram service to the city is free. There is no parking available at this location.
The customer support staff will be onsite at the Geelong and Docklands terminals to assist passengers as required.

Tickets are non-transferable, however, they can be cancelled or rebooked until 60 minutes prior to departure by selecting ‘change booking’ or ‘cancel booking’ in your booking confirmation (refer to the image below). Alternatively, Port Phillip Ferries can assist you with changing your ticket up to 48 hours prior to the time of travel by contacting Port Phillip Ferries via phone or emailing them at info@portphillipferries.com.au
If you have booked a ferry ticket but can no longer take the ferry, there is no penalty for not showing up, however notifying Port Phillip Ferries of cancellation via email info@portphillipferries.com.au is encouraged so that your seat may be made available for other passengers.

Port Phillip Ferries policies apply to ferry passengers. The ferry is accessible to passengers using wheelchairs and mobility aids, and priority seating are also available. The customer support staff will be onsite at the Geelong and Docklands terminals to assist passengers as required.
Passengers using wheelchairs and mobility scooters can travel on the ferry and will have access to the lower/main deck, which has accessible bathroom facilities and a cafe. Crews will be available to assist with boarding via ramps. There are a limited number of spaces on board for wheelchairs, scooters and mobility aids, so please let Port Phillip Ferries know if you will need assistance when you book your ticket.

Passengers with tickets should make their way directly to the piers in both locations.
- Geelong: No direct transfer between Geelong Station and Steampacket Pier is available, however staff at Geelong Station can assist with taxi bookings if needed. Free parking is available at Geelong Station, around 10 minute walk from the pier. Paid all-day parking is also available at Cunningham Pier, near Steampacket Pier.
- Docklands: No free parking or direct transfer between Port Phillip Ferries Docklands terminal and Southern Cross Station is available, however, the terminal is near multiple free city trams stops, including routes 11 and 48 to Southern Cross Station. Travellers who require mobility assistance can book Traveller’s Aid, a free service that assists with connections to Southern Cross Station. This service must be booked directly with Traveller’s Aid, at least 24 hours in advance. Visit org.au/book-a-service for more information.

While myki cards will not be charged, a valid myki must be sighted by ferry assistance staff before boarding, in addition to a valid ferry ticket for the relevant service.

Port Phillip Ferries policies apply to ferry passengers.
Bicycle, e-bike and e-scooter parking on board the ferry needs to be reserved when booking your ticket online. The ferry has 20 parks available.
When selecting passenger type in your online booking you are also able to choose how many bikes you are travelling with. Please also allow extra boarding time to load and secure bikes.
