Walk This Way

Have you heard? Port Phillip Ferries are docking into the heart of Geelong! As of Monday 2nd December 2019, Port Phillip Ferries will be cruising daily between Geelong and the Docklands. Taking in the sights and sounds of G-Town is about to be made even easier. Simply disembark the ferry, shake off those sea legs and walk this way.

Turn left…

Take a swift left turn off the ferry and head to Eastern Beach, an absolute water wonderland with fully fenced children’s pool, art deco boardwalk, enclosed sea baths, floating islands and diving towers.  Set within a lush reserve, there’s also plenty of lawn to spread out a picnic rug, along with a playground, kiosk, change rooms, BBQ facilities and shade galore.  Swim, splash and laze the day away, just remember to pack your togs!

Walking on the ‘left’ side will also allow you to take in a plethora of places to eat and drink; from an Asian-inspired banquet at Wah Wah Gee to traditional fish n chips at Geelong Boat House to modern flavours at Edge to a cheeky cocktail at the Waterfront Restaurant Novotel Geelong to an authentic Italian feast at Denny’s Kitchen.  There are so many tasty treats waiting to be tried and tested when you take a walk on the left side.

Turn right…

Go right, life is cultured there!  The self-proclaimed (and rightly so) Geelong Cultural precinct is a mere right-hand turn away.  Within this precinct you will find the Geelong Gallery – Australia’ leading and oldest regional art gallery; the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre – aka The Dome, the perfect place to read, learn and reflect; and Geelong Arts Centre – pka GPAC, where creativity flows and amazing shows ensue.

Straight ahead…

Full steam ahead and take the direct line right into the soul of the shopping district. Not only can you shop up a storm at Westfield Geelong with over 150 retail outlets to walk your way in and around but you can continue your browsing and buying at Market Square Shopping Centre, located directly across the road from Westfield and home to over 80 retail outlets. Plus there is also a surfeit of stores scattered around Geelong’s picturesque CBD.  Straight lines lead to a shopping extravaganza!

Those feet were made for walking and that’s just what they’ll do. Step off Port Phillip Ferries into the land of Geelong and get discovering by turning left, right or going straight ahead.
