AFL Grand Final Eve Parade & Footy Festival
Public Holiday? Check. A parade and Festival celebrating Melbourne’s favourite competitive sport? Check.
Don your team colours and catch an up-close glimpse of your favourite AFL players at this year’s Grand Final Day Parade and Footy Festival at Yarra Park near the MCG.
A tradition as old as time (ahem – the late 70’s) the Grand Final Day parade has been part of the build-up to the Grand Final since 1977, when players from North Melbourne and Collingwood were driven north along St Kilda Road and Swanston Street through throngs of adoring fans.
This year the AFL is upping the celebrations a notch with a full-on Footy Festival. Marching bands and roving entertainers will join the cavalcade of utes parading the Grand Final teams from the Old Treasury Building to the Toyota AFL Grand Final Live Site at Yarra Park at the MCG.
There will also be food, music, activities for the kids. All fans are invited and it’s FREE to attend.
We’ll be departing Portarlington at 9am and arriving at Docklands at 10:20am, so you’ll have plenty of time find the perfect vantage point.
