Ones To Watch

Our Top Picks

Fishing Not Catching

It brings back an aire of nostalgia, casting your fishing rod off a pier... waiting... anticipating... the next great big catch!  Give the kids a memorable experience - just like we had - and take them fishing.

Cast a simple line off the pier, have a chat, and watch the world slowly pass by. Better than the screens, right?

On Your Bike

Bring your bikes across on the ferry (for free) - and venture off on some soft-adventure around Portarlington and surrounds.

The esplanade provides a safe track suitable for all levels of cyclists, with scenic views throughout.  Spot Melbourne on the horizon, the You Yangs across the bay - or ride down to the famous Ozone Paddle Steamer in Indented Head!

Stroll, Shop, Sight-see

Spend the day browsing (or spending up) along Newcombe street - it's where the above the water action happens in Portarlington!

Great coffee, mussels are a must at the grand hotel, retail therapy and explorations await.

Fish n Chips & Feasts

Have you ever noticed how fish n chips just taste better in the salty air?  Mmmm... pick from two of our favourite shops who will spoil the family with the most delicious serve of fish n chips - ever!

Of course there's loads more dining options, and you just might snag a famous Port hot jam donut at the end of the pier!

Discover The Beach

Ever seen the kids celebrate the beach in winter?  It's something every child must do.  It should be a coming-of-age experience for all Aussie kids... don't you think?

Rug up, put on that jacket - leave the shoes at home - and get exploring the beach!  There's memories to be made and sandy fun to be had at the beach!

Mountains of Mussels

The Australian Blue Mussels grown in the waters just off Portarlington have reached legend status.

They’re probably the town’s most famous export, famed among foodies and featured on most restaurant menus near and far.

Find them smoked, steamed, soused or simply fresh. Our friends at The Little Mussel Café will have you sorted.
